Game intelligence with a design purpose
NPC AI should create understandable decisions for players. Navigation, perception, combat behaviour, coordination and dialogue state are chosen to support the intended challenge and world logic. A technically complex agent is not automatically a better opponent or companion.
Designers need ways to inspect behaviour, reproduce failures and tune parameters. The scope includes these authoring and debugging tools where necessary, rather than treating AI as an opaque feature delivered at the end.
Procedural generation needs constraints
Procedural levels, environments, encounters and item systems can create variety when their outputs remain playable and testable. Generation rules require validation, seed handling, author controls and performance limits. Save compatibility and progression dependencies are considered before large amounts of content rely on generated results.
Adaptive systems should preserve player understanding. If difficulty changes, the design needs a clear purpose and tests that identify unintended effects on fairness, progression or social play.
Evaluate advanced services deliberately
Where a project calls for external generative or language services, the architecture considers latency, cost, privacy, output constraints, moderation and fallback behaviour. Such services are optional project systems, not a public claim about how Darkbeast produces every game.
Share the behaviour you want players to observe and the constraints of the target platforms. A bounded proof can establish feasibility before the system becomes a dependency of the wider production.
Planning your engagement
What should we include in an initial brief?
Describe the intended audience, core player experience, target platforms, reference games, available IP or code, budget range and launch priorities. Identify the requirements that are fixed and those you want us to help resolve. We use this to determine the next scoping decisions.
What is included in the production proposal?
The proposal records the agreed scope, assumptions, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, review process and commercial terms. Source access, IP rights, third-party costs and post-launch responsibilities are defined for the specific engagement. Submitting an enquiry does not order paid work.
